Digitising maternal and child health tracking across Meghalaya

MOTHER – Meghalaya’s Outcome Oriented Transformation Initiative

In partnership with the National Health Mission, Government of Meghalaya, CDFI built and deployed the MOTHER platform, a digital system to track maternal and child health outcomes across the state. By digitising pregnancy registration, vaccination tracking, and field reporting, the platform gives health officials real-time visibility into what is happening on the ground, enabling faster decisions and stronger accountability across Meghalaya's public health system.

Initial problem

WHAT WE BUILT

National Health Mission, Government of Meghalaya CDFI developed the MOTHER mobile app and analytics dashboards to digitise key workflows across Meghalaya's health system. Field workers register pregnancies, track vaccinations, and report outcomes directly from the field. State and district officials access real-time dashboards to monitor progress, identify gaps, and plan targeted interventions. The platform now supports health, nutrition, and rural development programs across the state.

The solution we implemented

Success of the MOTHER Program

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), launched on 31st December 2016 envisions to provide cash incentive amounting to ₹5,000 directly to the Bank/ Post Office Account of Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) during pregnancy and lactation period

3,08,509+ Pregnancies Tracked

Every registered pregnancy is monitored from registration through delivery, reducing the risk of gaps in care.

Institutional Deliveries at 74%

Up from less than 50% before 2020, reflecting stronger trust in and access to public health facilities.

Maternal and Infant Deaths in Sharp Decline

Maternal deaths down 50%, infant deaths down 51% between 2020 and 2025.

Built on data. Sustained through accountability.
