Rebuilding Kerala with transparency, technology, and collective resilience

Rebuild Kerala: A Statewide Digital Recovery Initiative

In the aftermath of Kerala’s devastating 2018 floods, the Government of Kerala launched the Rebuild Kerala Initiative to support large-scale reconstruction, rehabilitation, and livelihood restoration. CDFI customised its Sunidhi platform to create a crowdfunding and project monitoring portal, empowering citizens, corporates, and global donors to transparently contribute to the state’s rebuilding journey.

Government of Kerala

CDFI’s Sunidhi platform was adapted to power Rebuild Kerala, a first-of-its-kind digital solution that brings together crowdfunding, transparency, and real-time monitoring for disaster rehabilitation. The platform allows donors worldwide to select specific projects, from rebuilding houses to restoring schools and Anganwadis, and track progress through continuous updates from on-ground agencies. The mobile-based data collection app built using Progressive Web Application (PWA) technology enables field officers to capture GPS-tagged photos, financial progress, and on-site updates, ensuring accuracy and accountability in every reconstruction effort.
